Celebrating their successful tour to Havana, Cuba last Summer, Charanga Tropical will be hosting a Fall Fiesta CD Release Party to celebrate the release of 'In Cuba'!

'In Cuba' was recorded in the same space where the Buena Vista Social Club was made. The resulting music features a mix of originals and Cuban classics. The CD package includes a 20-page booklet that tells the story of Charanga's landmark tour through vivid photos and liner notes by Dr. Olavo Alén, Cuba's greatest living musicologist.

One Night In Cuba - CD Release Party

Cedar Cultural Center, 416 Cedar Avenue, Minneapolis

Get ready for a night of modern timba, intense danzones, romantic boleros, and salsa, salsa, salsa!

Back from a groundbreaking tour to Cuba as the first American band (ever!) to play Havana's International Danzón Festival, Charanga Tropical hosts a Cuban themed party to release its new CD.

The disc was recorded at legendary EGREM's Areito studio, the same space in where 'Buena Vista Social Club' and so many other classic Cuban recordings were made.

One Night In Cuba will feature an all-star lineup of musicians from Charanga Tropical, Malamanya, Salsa Del Soul, QBand, and Salsabrosa. Other guests to include Cuban pianist Viviana Pintado, Chicago Salsa singers Franklin Paz and Juan Castro, Latin jazzer Craig Russo, and dance showcases by Rene Dance Studio and salsa performance team Salsa De La Calle

Doors open at 7 p.m. with DJ Momchil spinning salsa hits. Bring your dancing shoes for a lively salsa lesson from one of dance instructor Rene Thompson, former lead dancer at La Tropicana in Havana, Cuba. At 8 p.m. Charanga Tropical takes the stage.

Dakota Late Night feat. Charanga Tropical

Charanga Tropical will play a 30-min concert prior to Westminster Town Hall Forum talk by Washington Post Columnist E.J. Dionne.

E.J. Dionne writes a twice-weekly column on politics for The Washington Post. He is a senior fellow in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution, a professor of government at Georgetown University, and a commentator on politics for NPR, PBS, ABC, NBC, and MSNBC. He is the author of six books, including Our Divided Political Heart and Why Americans Hate Politics, which won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and was a nominee for the National Book Award. His latest book, Why the Right Went Wrong, explores the recent history of unrest and discontent in the Republican Party, tracing its beginning to Goldwater conservatism in the 1960s. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Harvard University and holds a DPhil from Balliol College at Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
